First Halo 3 tournament announced

With Halo 3 more than likely still 9 months away, the first tournament has been announced -- the first that we've heard of anyway. The tournament -- entitled, "Shock & Awe" -- will begin on the day that Halo 3 is released (again, probably 9 months away). Shock & Awe is a 4-on-4, best of 3, 256 team, single elimination tournament that Halo players are familiar with. To sign up, all you have to do is follow this link. You'll need to register for the forums to do so, but it's free and painless. Oh, and did we mention you could win up to $5,000 in prizes? Yeah, well, you could win up to $5,000 in prizes.

The tournament is being organized by Games in Action. The group, recently spotlighted by Bungie.net, welcomes gamers of all stripes. It's not like you won't be playing Halo 3 on launch day anyway. Why not throw in a chance at free money, too?

If anyone out there knows about any other tournaments, let us know.
