Roogoo and Aces of the Galaxy now available
It's Wednesday today and that means it's time to step into the Xbox Live Arcade waters once again, slosh your feet around and determine if you enjoy the wetness. Visual imagery aside, both Aces of the Galaxy and Roogoo are this week's new XBLA releases, are both 800 Microsoft points and both are said to be quite enjoyable. Especially the puzzle game Roogoo where early word on the internets is that it's worth your time to at least give it a trial download. Cue the overly happy Roogoo trailer ... NOW!

This Wednesday: Roogoo has pocket Aces (of the Galaxy)
It's not often we read a press release lauding a game for "[updating] the square peg in round hole premise to a whole new level," but that's just how Roogoo is described. You can find out for yourself this Wednesday, either through the demo or by plopping down a virtual Alexander Hamilton (800 MS points).
Also coming this Wednesday (and also for 800 MS points) is Aces of the Galaxy, which looks to be a frenetic on-rails space shooter for those who haven't gotten their space shooter fills with Ikaruga. Both titles will be available this Wednesday, June 4 at 4:00 a.m. Joystiq Standard Time.

Roogoo and Aces of the Galaxy to XBLA this week

Roogoo, the too cute puzzle game will be available for 800 Microsoft points and feature 45 levels, multiplayer over Live and locally as well as plenty of evil Meemoos. The other half of this week's twofer, Aces of the Galaxy will also be available for 800 MS points and is an old-school space shooter featuring online and local co-op play as well as visuals that can be best described as "pretty pretty". Screenshots are below for your viewing enjoyment.

Aces of the Galaxy hitting XBLA next week
It seems it's been a trend lately for XBLA games to release in pairs and while we were a bit less than thrilled with this week's releases, next week does look better. In addition to Roogoo, June 4 will also see the release of the co-op space shooter Aces of the Galaxy. Little to nothing has been revealed about the game so far but XBLA thankfully gives us trial versions, and the graphics and co-op play give us more than enough reason to give it try. From what we can infer the game could be worth its 800pt price tag, we just wish Artech had gotten more out there about it.
XBLA Achievement Smorgasbord
After the XBLA drought last week, we're now getting hit by a relative flood of new things. First are a few new achievement lists, which include some games that have fallen off the radar a bit. Remember Aces of the Galaxy? We barely did either. The 3D space shooter was originally set to release last fall, and it looks as though Microsoft is finally readying it for release. How about Elements of Destruction? Remember that one? It gives you control over the forces of nature and allows you to use them to wreak havoc. Now Sealife Safari should be familiar enough to resonate, as we did a preview of the on-rails photography game recently. The full lists can be found after the break.
Sierra's ambitious Winter XBLA plans

The crew over at IGN got some hands on time with all six, count 'em six, of developer Sierra's new games that are set to release on the Xbox Live Arcade this Winter. So, enough of the fluff let's get to the goods. Sierra's bountiful and very diverse Winter XBLA lineup includes a 3D space shooter called Aces of the Galaxy, a mystical hack, hack, slash slasher called Arkadian Warriors, the TV based Battlestar Galactica, a puzzling bunny game called Boogie Bunnies, a casual gamer's RTS Commanders: Attack of the Genos, and finally Switchball. See, we told you it was a diverse group of games. You can check out IGN's hands-on take of each Arcade title as well as screenshots and video from each game after the jump. And with such an interesting lineup of adventure, sci-fi, shooter and action based games we can't help but be most excited to play Boogie Bunnies. Dancing bunnies ... what more can we say?
