European PSN Store update for October 2nd

Quite a long list of content today, particularly if you include all the Rock Band and FIFA 09 downloadable content. Two more Rock Band albums are released today, leaving Europe up to date with DLC. Until the American PSN update later today, that is. Geon comes to Europe, with trophies in tow, along with the PES 09 demo (we know a lot of you'll be happy about that) and the Bioshock demo.

Also, be sure to grab the PixelJunk Eden soundtrack. At this price, you'd be daft not to. Plus, it's DRM free, so you can listen to it on any device you like (we'll be using it as our WipEout HD soundtrack). Here's the full release list:

Playable content
  • Geon full game (£4.99/€7.99)
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 demo (free)
  • Bioshock demo (free)
Add-on content

  • Rock Band DLC (listed after the break)

Emotional puzzler Geon is coming to Wii

Last year's XBLA release (and this week's PSN release) Geon is coming to the Wii. While the video above is not taken from the Wii version of the game, it gives you a general idea of what to expect from the puzzler. Being the puzzle fans we are, we're anxious to give the game a whirl. Oh, and it won't just be a port of the XBLA and PSN release, either. The Wii title will feature 4-player split-screen action and 16 new 'duel mode' grids.

Geon is scheduled to release on Wii later this year.

Geon comes to PSN soon (as in, tomorrow)

Instead of using pictures, we decided we'll use words for this one. Geon (formerly known as the game, Geon: Emotions) is making a surprise appearance on PSN very soon. In fact, it's coming tomorrow, according to a post on PS3Trophies.co.uk. "Short notice, but that's the miracle of digital distribution." Geon will be available on the US PSN tomorrow, and next week in Europe.

Unfortunately, we think the game will be buried under the massive hype that's been built up for the other downloadable games releasing tomorrow: Burnout Paradise, WipEout HD and Mega Man 9.

Geon: Emotions coming to PSN with improvements and Trophies

Revealed through the ESRB, Geon: Emotions has been officially announced for PSN. The former XBLA-exclusive is making the transition to PS3 with a bevvy of enhancements, like a redesigned single player mode and a new League mode. Players will have attack and shields standard and a new goal scoring system promises to make each round more tense.

There will be four player online and offline multiplayer, and the title will support PSN Trophies. We can expect it in the vague timeframe of "soon."

GEON: Emotions headed for PSN according to ESRB

According to a listing at the ESRB, the formerly XBLA exclusive puzzle game GEON: Emotions is headed over to the PSN. GEON's gameplay is somewhat similar to Pac-Man, where you collect pellets known as emotes on a two-sided grid. When the cube is charged after consuming enough emotes, you attempt to score a point by landing in the central area of your opponent's side of the grid. You also choose an emotion at the start of each match, which then determines which power-up gives you the strongest effects. Check the trailer for the XBLA version of the game, after the jump.

This Wednesday: Geon: Emotions on XBLA

On its Xbox profile page, Geon: Emotions is described as "a fast-paced abstract sports game that lets you explore your emotions as you compete against opponents." No, it's not a CalvinBall title starring Tobias Funke, but it's possibly just as confusing. If going solo isn't your thing, Geon supports online multiplayer where up to for players can "let it all hang out on an emotional battlefield."

In situations like this we're infinitely thankful for having demos of every game that goes up on the service. Geon: Emotions will cost 800 Microsoft Points.

GEON Emotions makes XBLA moody this week

Wednesday is fast approaching and that means it's time for a new Xbox Live Arcade game. The press release just hit our inbox, and this week's game is GEON: Emotions from Eidos and Strawdog Studios. We were initially confused by GEON's gameplay, but once you know the basics, it's pretty simple. More or less, it's something like a mix between Pac-Man and capture the flag. Roll over a certain number of dots and then make the trek to your opponent's goal. Manage to do that five times before your opponent does and you win. Easy, right? Oh, and there are some power-ups and the like as well. If all of this sounds like fun to you, then you can plunk down the requisite 800 MS Points when it hits XBLA tomorrow.

Summer XBLA titles announced

Following the announcement of Track & Field yesterday, Microsoft gave us a sneak peak at the Arcade titles coming this month and in the coming weeks. They announced that this month we'll be seeing Ecco The Dolphin, which we caught on the ESRB a while back, Hexic 2, and War Worlds. Outside of August, or potentially on the tail end as a twofer, we have Geon: Emotions, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, Streets of Rage 2, Space Giraffe, and of course, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Out of that line up, what are you most stoked for?

GEON: Emotions gameplay explained

So yesterday we mentioned that we were completely bamboozled by GEON: Emotions for Xbox Live Arcade. Developed by Strawdog Studios and published by Eidos Interactive, GEON proved to be quite befuddling. Hearing our cries of confusion, XBLArcade has shown us the way via an IGN preview that was posted a few days ago. It seems the object of GEON is to gather a certain amount of dots before your opponent (who is doing the same thing on the flip side of the board) can do the same. Once a certain number of dots have been collected, you roll over to the flip side of the board and then into a goal. The first to achieve this process 5 times is the winner. Seems simple enough.

There are power-ups, too. The effectiveness of these power-ups is determined by the "emotion" you choose to play as. Really the only benefit of any emotion is that it adds extra benefits to certain power-ups. Power-ups are generally used to knock pellets out of your opponent's stash or gather more for yourself. So there you go. Not so confusing after all, eh?

Video: GEON gets all emotional

Okay, we've watched several videos of Strawdog Studios' GEON: Emotions for Xbox Live Arcade, and we're pretty sure something is happening. At this point we have not yet been able to figure out exactly what that is. There's a box and it moves around. Of that we're certain. It looks like it gathers dots. except the dots don't always disappear when the box runs over them. There also appear to be enemy boxes. The board often flips over, and at one point seems to be devouring itself. We honestly have no idea what's going on, but we're possessed with a powerful urge to play it. More inexplicable videos after the break.
