Pumpkin Head mask returning to LBP in time for Halloween

If you missed your chance to grab the LittleBigPlanet Pumpkin Head mask, which was offered as a free Halloween promotion last year, don't fret -- Media Molecule is bringing the complimentary costume piece back to the game this Thursday. We're not certain how long the wearable gourd will be available to download, so make sure you act quickly, lest you be forced to wait another year before you get your Sleepy Hollow Sackboy on.

Happy Halloween! Check out some Nintendo-themed pumpkins

GameDaily has put together a cool gallery of different Nintendo-themed carved pumpkins, just in time to celebrate the holiday today. We suggest you take a break from nibbling on chocolate and other candy goods to check them out. And, yes, our favorite is at the top of this very post.

Show and Tell: Early but eerie

In the fine tradition of American retailers, we'd like to get started on Halloween a little early this year. We've got pumpkins, costumes, and parties -- all things just ripe for you to undertake yourself once the holiday rolls around. Doing something gaming-related yourself? Make sure you let us know!

Also, hey -- if you're looking to get started early on your spooky plans this year, maybe some of these will help get the (ooshy gooshy layers of) brain cranking out some ideas.

Show and Tell is all about fan stuff, so long as it's Nintendo-related. We love to see your collections, your crafts, your frosted creations, your t-shirts and swag of all sorts.Just snap a few pictures, tell us what's up, and send it all to showmeit [at] dsfanboy [dot] com. We'll take care of the rest. Not a handy type, but found something neat? Send us a link instead.

It's Halloween! Look at some pumpkins!

Having a wife that indulges you in your obsession with gaming is nice, but one that participates in said obsession is even better. Hence, we have these two lovely pumpkins, carved by reader Colleen and her husband (unless his name is Colleen, which we've never heard before), they're some of the most awesome pumpkins our little eyes have ever seen.

If you have a Nintendo-related pumpkin of your own, be sure to link it in the comments below. And, if you didn't know, Joystiq is running a contest right now looking for these kind of creations.

DS Daily: Carvings

Joystiq's pumpkin-carving contest got us inspired -- now we're dying to carve something game-themed into pumpkins of our own. That seems to take some artistic ability, however -- something we're not sure we've got a lot of just lying around. Of course, then we have to decide just what to imprint into the rough orange flesh of our chosen gourd, and that's where things get tough. We could go scary, of course ... but there's just something about the awesomeness of Contra 4 that makes us want to carve some bad dudes into a pumpkin or two.

How about you? Have you ever carved a game-themed pumpkin? If so, what was it? If not, have you considered it? What would you choose?

Reminder: This Wario pumpkin could win Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles

Michael McAfoos got his entry into our Joystiq pumpkin carving contest in early and, we gotta say, we're impressed. Like, really impressed. This puts our pumpkin carving of the sun to shame ...

You've still got about five days left, including the weekend, to share your pumpkins with us and potentially win a copy of the beautiful Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles. Check out the rules and get carving.

Xbox 360 stencils + pumpkin = great Halloween

October 31st is quickly approaching and that means you have two things to do. One being that you only have a week or so to carve a pumpkin to decorate your doorstep for the night's trick-or-treaters. The other issue that needs taking care of is that you'll have to stock up on a year supply of Halloween candy. We here at X3F can only help you with one of your duties, so we're leaving the candy stockpile up to you.

Posted over at Xbox.com is a set of four downloadable Xbox 360 themed pumpkin carving stencils to aid in creating the ultimate 360 pumpkin. The stencils feature such iconic 360 themes like the ring of light, the infamous "X" logo and the silhouette of our white console. Don't think you have the talent to make a 360 pumpkin? Well, you're wrong, it's actually quite easy. Simply choose your favorite design, download it, print it off, cut it out, slap it on your orange gourde of choice, hollow out said gourde and start cutting out the black stuff. Then all you have to do is light a candle inside and voila! You now have Xbox 360 Halloween pride. Just be leery of the dreaded red ring of death ... it's reported that Halloween brings four times the amount of red ring failures than normal. Boo!

X360F Pumpkin Carving Contest Winners

When it comes to the Xbox 360 community, not all fanboys are created equal -- and neither are all pumpkins. We received around 20 entries in our carving contest and all of them (except for the odd photoshop fake) were better than the average jack-o-lantern. Richard and I would like to thank all the contestants for making this a competitive contest that proved Xbox 360 fanboys have Halloween spirit and artistic talent to spare. And special thanks to our prize sponsor RockMeTV.com for providing a copy of Gears of War to give away.

Without further ado, please view the official results of our 1st Annual Xbox 360 Pumpkin Carving Contest after the jump

X360F Pumpkin contest: Count the votes

Last chance to cast your vote in our 1st Annual Xbox 360 Pumpkin Carving Contest and help decide who get Gears of War for the price of a pumpkin. The polls close at 12am EST, right about the time squash futures crash back to earth (to Homer Simpson's dismay). It pains me to think of these works of vegetable art rotting on someone's front porch. Thanks to all who participated in the contest-- except the Photoshop cheats.

We will officially announce the winners on Wednesday evening.

Carving contest vote: Pick the best 360 pumpkin [update: cheater!]

A hearty Halloween hello to all the fanboys who put their squash fruit skills to the test in our 1st Annual Xbox 360 Fanboy Pumpkin Carving Contest. Some of you obviously know how to carve pumpkins. Richard and I have narrowed down the entries to 10 finalists based on carving skill and originality, which we now present to our readership for a vote. The owner of the top Xbox-O-Lantern will receive a copy of Gears of War courtesy of RockMeTV with slightly less cool prizes for 2nd and 3rd place (XBL Unplugged Vol. 1 and UMK3 respectively). The ballot will close at midnight tonight, with any ties decided by a random drawing, so pick your favorite. This isn't Chicago, so please vote only once. We'll be plugging this post throughout the day to ensure as many participants as possible besides your Mom and friends. Pics are listed after the break in no particular order.

Pumpkin Emergence Day contest reminder

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than carving an Xbox 360-themed Jack-O-Lantern for our 1st Annual Xbox 360 Pumpkin Carving Contest. Readers have submitted a number of quality efforts so far. We're accepting entries until late Monday and since everybody carves a pumpkin for Halloween anyway, there's really no exscuse for not putting blade to squash. Oh yeah -- First prize gets a copy of that under-the-radar sleeper title from Epic that you may have heard about.

If you need inspiration, check out these the incredible pumkin art from last year's Halo.Bungie.org contest (Damn. I thought I had an original idea). They're holding the same thing again this year, so there's no reason you couldn't carve one Xbox-O-Lantern and enter it in both contests.

Halloween Pumpkin Carving Contest (Win GoW!)

Reader Subnoise Rat's skill with squash fruit and kitchen knives has inspired the 1st Annual Xbox360Fanboy Pumpkin Carving Contest. Here's how it works:
  • Carve an Xbox 360-related Jack O' Lantern based on a logo, game, character, etc.
  • Send one color photo (at least 425 pixels wide) to x360f.contests+halloween@gmail.com before 11:00pm EST Monday, October 30. Include a title so we know what we are supposed to be looking at, your name, gamertag, and mailing address.
  • 1 entry per person
  • No stolen pics
Richard and I will choose the top 10 pumpkins based on workmanship and creativity for a public vote to be held here on October 31 (also known as Halloween!) with winners announced and notified by email the following day.

1st Prize: One NTSC copy of Gears of War shipped to your door via Amazon.com as soon as it becomes available. This prize is proudly sponsored by RockMeTV.com -- which, by the way, will be LIVE and Interactive Wednesday October 25th at 3:00pm EST. Tune in for a chance to win more free stuff.

2nd Prize: One copy of Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged

3rd Prize: Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for Xbox Live Arcade

In the event of a tie, the winners will be decided by a random drawing. Xbox 360 Fanboy reserves final judgement in all disputes.

Happy Carving!

GoW pumpkin emerges for Halloween

Just in case those snot-nosed trick or treaters doubt your fanboy cred. Nice work Subnoise Rat. Any other 360-themed Jack 'O Lanterns out there? We should probably turn this into a contest.
