Shoryuken see Everybody Loves Raymond's mom drop a shoryuken

This moment brought to you by the letters W, T, and F:

After the break, a very special moment made up of three disparate, but equally important, elements: 78-year-old Doris Roberts (that's Everybody Love's Raymond's mom to most of you); the line "Game on!"; and an honest-to-goodness shoryuken (don't call it an uppercut!).

We have the upcoming movie Aliens in the Attic to thank for the existence of this moment. To spare you the pain of watching the entire trailer, we've trimmed out the relevant scene from Hulu and tucked it away after the break. Overseas? Try this YouTube variant (but skip to 1:25! You've been warned!).

I Got Next gives inside look at fighting game tourney scene

If the world of professional Street Fighter-ing is a nebulous mystery to you, it may be time to get a clue from an excellent piece of research material -- indie graphic designer/filmmaker Ian Cofino's recently completed documentary, I Got Next. The feature-length film went live on UFragTV last night, and is expected to be widely released via torrent in the near future. For a bite-sized sampling, check out the trailer above.

For a still-harangued-by-student-loans amateur filmmaker, it's a really nice production -- one that gives us insight into the minds of a quarter-circle-punch obsessed populous we've never really bothered to study. Oh, also, it contains the music of The Go! Team, which is scientifically proven to make anything it touches a million times better.

Iron-fisted man recreates Street Fighter bonus stage

This video dropped earlier this month, so we offer our humblest apologies if you've already seen it -- actually, scratch that. You could do with seeing it again. Watching a single man go all Ong-Bak on an unsuspecting sedan is damn near the most inspirational thing we've ever seen. Oh, and it closely resembles the bonus stage from Street Fighter II, which is why its relevant for our gaming-centric news establishment. Oh, and it features a song by Rage Against The Machine, which we understand is quite the popular band with the kids nowadays.

The reverse vehicular manslaughter demonstration is posted after the jump.

XBLM Deal of the Week: Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

In what will assuredly be the longest headline for any Xbox Live Deal of the Week post we'll ever run, Microsoft's offering a $5 reduction in price (from 1200 to 800) on Capcom's Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix this week.

That's right, folks -- you're reading this correctly. We're on the second week straight that the Xbox Live Deal of the Week was something worthwhile and not, say, DLC from a three year old game or, erm, DLC from a two year old game. We're not quite sure that the big M and Xbox Live are giving Steam a run for its money with deals quite yet, but we are plopping down our virtual bucks that much more frequently on the service as of late. Here's hoping that we'll keep seeing tasty deals like this rather than some of the ... ahem ... less than savory items we've seen in the past.

2-disc Street Fighter IV OST on sale now for $10

It's just simply not enough to listen to the Street Fighter IV soundtrack while owning fools online -- you've also got it take it with you everywhere you go. To do that, you'll want to check out the 2-disc soundtrack that's available now over at Sumthing Digital.

The set contains over 50 tracks from the game and it'll only set you back $10. Individual songs are also available for download for about $1 each; however, getting the entire collection sounds like a much better deal. That, and El Fuerte will sit on your face if you don't.

Also, there's more Capcom stuff over at Sumthing Digital -- check out that 3-Disc Resident Evil 5 OST for starters.

Behold the vacant stare of the Chun-Li action figure

NECA has a long history of crowding our shelves with action figures, and while we're accustomed to emptying our wallets for these plastic diversions without question there's just something about this latest Chun Li figure that looks a little ... off.

Set for release in August, she's one of a three new NECA toys based on Street Fighter IV, including figures modeled after Akuma and Guile as well. And while each of the figs has their own unique quirks, maybe it's Chun Li's oddly-defined muscles or creepy blank stare that's weirding us right out. On second thought, it's gotta be the hands. They're just way too small.

Yatta! Your lame PC will run Street Fighter IV, specs revealed

It must be quite an annoying wait for you PC gamers, knowing that your console brethren are already finding enjoyment in Street Fighter IV. There must be something we can do to make this interim more bearable? Oh, we know! We have just the thing; we've got the specs, thanks to Capcom.

Wouldn't you just love to know if your PC can handle all of Bison's psycho power? Chances are, it can. Check after the break for the minimum requirements and see if your rig stacks up.

Street Fighter IV PC comes packin' ... a fightpad

For the few of you out there waiting for a PC version of Street Fighter IV and who, simultaneously, had not prepared for playing the game with a keyboard and mouse, Capcom has luckily thought ahead. It's including a MadCatz Fight Pad in the $60 Games for Windows version of SFIV that'll be sold at your local brick and mortar. We're wondering how many folks are willing to snag one of these for the controller alone!

Problematically, the company has at once solved your problem and caused another -- how are you going to play against friends in your house with only one controller? Knowing that the arcade controllers released have come in fairly short supply, here's hoping the introduction of PC Street Fighter IV brings with it a bevy of the unfortunately necessary controllers to the market.

World's strongest film headed to Blu-ray

We didn't believe it at first, but it looks like humanity's greatest cinematic achievement, also known as Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, is coming to Blu-ray -- and DVD, incidentally -- this June. Of course, one disc isn't nearly enough to contain a film this powerful, so the special edition comes packed with three.

Included with the package are theatrical and unrated versions of the movie, plenty of bonus features -- including a sneak peek at Marvel vs. Capcom 2 -- and also the Street Fighter Round One: Fight! animated comic movie. Oh, and let's not forget, it also has awesome box art. We think we speak for everyone when we say get pumped.

Capcom: Resident Evil franchise nears 40 million units, SFII still best all-time seller

According to Capcom's investor relations website, the Resident Evil franchise has clocked nearly 40 million units sold since the series inception in 1996. The next closest to that is the (much older) Mega Man franchise, which has managed to move 28 million. Behind Mega Man is the Street Fighter franchise with 27 million to its name.

Even though Street Fighter can only lay claim to the third best franchise for Capcom, Ryu and friends can still boast about one thing: Street Fighter II for the Super Nintendo, which released waaaaay back in 1992, remains the company's all-time best seller, pushing 6.3 million copies. That said, Street Fighter II had better watch its back, as Resident Evil 5 has already sold 4.4 million copies since it released in March, nearly surpassing the 4.9 million copies of Capcom's second best seller, Resident Evil 2.

Trophies not coming to Street Fighter II HD Remix

Looks like your 2D hadouken skills won't be (virtually) rewarded. Capcom's not planning on patching Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix any time soon. In fact, Capcom's John Diamonon told PlayStation.Blog readers that "trophies were never promised for SFHD and aren't going to be implemented."

Well, looks like we're crossing that off our Trophy Portal. For those of you who want to show off your fighting skills to the PlayStation community, it looks like you'll have to stick with Street Fighter IV.

[Thanks, Dark Archon]

Capcom looking for a few good Street Fighter IV Xbox 360 players in Europe

Capcom has been combing the desert Europe looking for the best Street Fighter IV players around, Eurogamer reports. Utilizing the new Championship mode to track your Grade Points (which determines your overall rank in the standings, naturally), the contest is open starting today and ends on May 17. Then, on the week of May 30, the best 30 fighters from each of the participating countries -- UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain -- will be matched up to decide the champion of each nation. After that, the five winners will then be flown to a secret location (we're crossing our fingers for inside of a volcano) on the weekend of June 13 to compete for the grand prize: an Aerox R Yamaha scooter and matching SFIV jackets.

If you're a Joystiq reader, and you make it to the finals and win this scooter, we suggest you name it Sasha.

Justin Wong wins national SFIV tourney, Daigo remains world champ

We have to hand it to Justin Wong -- he put up a good fight. Defeating all American contestants in a three-round, GameStop-sponsored Street Fighter IV tournament over the course of the past two months, the NY-based Street Fighter enthusiast can walk tall knowing he took down the best of what America had to offer. What we didn't know when this tournament was announced, however, was that a brief "international title championship" would take place immediately following the battle's end.

After toppling Korea's Poongko, as well as Japan's Iyo, Wong (playing as Rufus) was left to compete with Japan's other entry, Daigo. Daigo apparently swept Wong using Ryu four to zero. Though Wong may not have walked away with the title of "international champion," he did likely need a truck for the Street Fighter IV arcade machine he won and, ya know, that enormous trophy he's holding.

Cutest thing you'll see today: Street Fighter kids

The rough-and-tumble Street Fighters enjoying their youth is likely the most adorable thing we'll see all week. Kei Acedera, an illustrator and art director at Imaginism, has just such a drawing in her portfolio on the company's website. If you click the image above, you'll be treated to the full work, which also includes the rest of the Super Street Fighter II Turbo cast cheering in the background (Dhalsim's long arms were a nice touch).

Acedera's work includes illustrating books for Harper Collins and design work for Disney and Sony. Her bio also states she makes t-shirts for her guinea pig, Tobi. We wonder if she puts little pants on Tobi and dyes him so he looks like the little Blanka in the picture ...

Blanka makes a cameo in Flock

Street Fighter's Blanka is joining in on Flock's animal herding antics. Capcom confirms that the electrical Amazonian will be an unlockable in the upcoming overcute strategy game, rolling and crushing anything in his path. Check it out in the embedded video after the break!

Capcom isn't saying exactly how to get at the chartreuse brawler. However, we imagine it won't be a secret for long once Flock abducts our free time this week over Steam on April 7, XBLA on April 8 and finally PlayStation Network on April 9.
