Force Unleashed, Vigilante 8, GRID get new DLC

We're far too broke to even think about picking some of these up, but what about you, team? By the way, we'd expect to see at least some of this on PSN today. We'll let you know.

Joystiq interview: Hitting the open road with Vigilante 8 dev Isopod Labs

The game's developer, Isopod Labs, was co-founded by both Peter Morawiec and Adrian Stephens, the same two individuals behind Luxoflux, in January 2007. Vigilante 8: Arcade represents the studio's first title, and on the heels of the game's debut we cornered one half of the founding duo in Adrian Stephens to speak more in-depth about his company and why it was important to the team to revisit their past.

Releasing to the Xbox Live Arcade is the long awaited, classic, brutal and memory conjuring Vigilante 8 Arcade from developer Isopod Labs.
This V8 remake with improved graphics and new features will be available for 800 Microsoft points this Wednesday, November 5th. And if you have already experience V8 back in the glory gaming days, then we don't have to sell you Vigilante 8 Arcade. For those who are unfamiliar, just know that V8 is all about cars, guns, destruction and lots of 1970s references.

Vigilante 8 takes to the XBLA roads on Nov. 5th
Flying under the Xbox Live Arcade radar is news regarding Isopod Labs' remake of the classic and vehicularly violent Vigilante 8 now called Vigilante 8 Arcade. That under the radar news is that V8 Arcade has finally passed certification and will be releasing to the XBLA on Wednesday, November 5th, which means you'll get a few days of solid V8 gaming before Gears 2 releases. Oh, and did we mention that V8 has Vision camera support? Well, it does and we know how much ya'll enjoy your Vision.

Vigilante 8 Arcade gets delayed ... again
Poor Vigilante 8 Arcade. The car combat game has gone from a sweet spot in June (where it could have been a cool oasis in the summer doldrums) to being all but finished in August and now, the game has hit yet another snag with a few obscure bugs in the Microsoft certification process. So now, Luxoflux is looking at more QA with Activision followed by a second certification attempt.
Don't get us wrong, we appreciate everyone taking the time to get it right. But we're entering that time of year when it would take something huge to wrest our attention from the torrent of retail releases, and we're just not sure Vigilante 8 has that kind of pull anymore. Here's hoping we see it soon.

V8 Arcade fails first certification attempt, trys again
Posted on their official blog, Isopod Labs has informed the V8 Arcade fanboy masses that the release date wait will be a bit longer than expected. Reason being, their first attempt at Microsoft certification ended in failure due to some techy "QNet library" stuff. But fret not, because Isopod has already fixed the problems, sent a new V8 Arcade build to Activision and Microsoft for a second certification sweep. And while you wait for the release, we advise taking Isopod's suggestion and downloading Castle Crashers. Long live the green knight!Vigilante 8 Arcade is totally done
"V8 Arcade enters its final submission." That's the headline we read this morning over at sister site Xbox 360 Fanboy and were totally excited to pass it along to you guys. That was just moments before we realized that, by and large, a lot of you probably don't realize why that's so rad.
So, for the uninitiated: Vigilante 8 (besides having one of the best titles ever) is a lot like Twisted Metal, only add better physics and subtract the awful hair metal aesthetic. Even that description's a little lackluster, but no matter: It's just been submitted to Microsoft for final approval and you'll be able to play it soon. We hope.

V8 Arcade enters its final submission

Sadly, we still do not have a V8 Arcade release date, but we do know it will cost 800 Microsoft points, utilize DLC and come with PS1 vehicle unlocks. High fives all around for PS1 vehicle unlocks and all thirteen polygons each vehicle is comprised of.

Vigilante 8 price is set, DLC already set, date not set
Hmm ... this news is something that we're a bit unsure about. Over at IGN there's an interview with the devs of Vigilante 8 Arcade about the game's details and its dev process. And while it's a good read and did tell us that the game would be hitting at a ten dollar price point (800MSpts), it also informed us of the fact the Isopod labs already has their DLC well in hand.
The details provided in the interview don't address the question entirely, but we do know that the first DLC pack will cost 320MSpts and will feature two new arenas & three new cars. Here's where the uncertainty comes in: does this mean the DLC is already done before the game ever launches? We're not big fans of that sort of thing if true, but given that this is an XBLA game there could be a number of reasons for it. The most likely would be limited storage size, the other would be desire to keep the entry price lower. Oh well, we'll probably never know anyway.

Vigilante 8 Arcade devs shoot for June, will include DLC
When we first caught wind (or is that exhaust?) of it, the Xbox Live Arcade version of retro car combat game Vigilante 8 was due for "spring." Now, more specifically, developer Isopod says it's shooting for early June, though it warns that the final decision will be Microsoft's.
Though that's a little later in spring than we would have liked, we were interested to hear that the team has already moved on to making DLC for the game, so what it lacks in promptness, it sounds like it could make up for in sheer girth.

Boogie and Chassey Blue added to V8 Arcade
For what we believe to be nostalgic reasons, we simply can't get enough Vigilante 8 Arcade information, details or media. So, upon coming across confirmation that our pals Boogie (in his tricked out Leprechaun) and Chassey Blue (in her destructive yet feminine Piranha), we got a little excited and felt the need to share. And we're confident that after giving the vehicle previews a view (in the gallery below), you'll either start crushing on Chassey or be jealous of Boogie's mad-cool 70's style. We can't wait, bring on the V8 and bring on the destruction already!Gallery: Vigilante 8 Arcade (XBLA)
Vigilante 8: Arcade coming to XBLA
Activision will breathe new life into the vehicular combat series Vigilante 8, when Vigilante 8: Arcade lands on Xbox Live Arcade this spring. The game will incorporate content from the first two Vigilante 8 titles, as well as introduce new features, and feature online multiplayer for up to six players.
Vigilante 8: Arcade is being developed by Isopod Labs, a studio founded by members of the original Vigilante 8 team from Luxoflux. The new title will feature eight vehicles, local split-screen multiplayer, voice support for online matches, and the inevitable promise of future downloadable content.
The original Vigilante 8 was released for Sony Playstation and Nintendo 64 back in 1998, with the sequel arriving on Dreamcast, N64 and PS1 in 1999. As the original games were developed in direct competition with the Twisted Metal series, it's likely that Vigilante 8: Arcade is planned to compete with the secretly announced Twisted Metal title on PS3. We'll have to see which car battler will come out on top.
